Professor Massimiliano (Max) Bianchi originally studied veterinary medicine in Sassari and Milan before obtaining his PhD in psychopharmacology at the University of Nottingham and embarking on a career in scientific research and the pharmaceutical industry. Dr Bianchi has over 20 years of international neuropharmacology R&D and executive management experience in industry and CRO. His research is focused on the role of microtubule dynamics in the pathogenesis and treatment of psychiatric, neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental disorders. He has several patents and is an author on over 50 publications. Dr. Bianchi is currently based at Trinity College Dublin as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the School of Psychology and as an Associate Principal Investigator at Trinity’s Institute of Neuroscience where he and his team explore the role of microtubules in the pathogenesis and treatment of psychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders. He founded Ulysses Neuroscience Ltd, a private R&D organisation based at Trinity College Dublin, for which he is president and CEO.
